88-94 OBS Dash Speaker Grille
Replaces factory dash speaker grilles on 1988–1994 GMT400 with a modern, re-engineered performance upgrade. Eliminates weak factory clips and broken mounting tabs using a full-length magnetic front retention strip and engineered rear tabs.
3D-printed from ultra-durable, heat and UV-resistant ASA-CF (Carbon Fiber Reinforced ASA) polymer, this two-piece design features a main grille body and a removable/semi-permanent dust cover—allowing for easy custom painting without tedious back-masking.
Key Highlights
- #1 Community-Requested Design: Re-engineered from the ground up to solve the most common factory dash grille failures.
- Magnetic Front Retention: Replaces brittle, easily broken front tabs with a full-length magnetic strip that locks firmly against the dash.
- Redesigned Rear Mounting Tabs: Engineered tabs eliminates the binding and snapping common when removing original grilles.
- Two-Piece Modular Construction: Separate main grille body and inner dust cover allow for custom multi-color painting or running an open-grille look.
- ASA-CF Carbon Fiber Construction: Industrial-grade carbon-fiber infused polymer handles extreme windshield heat without warping or fading.

Painting & Finishing Guide
Because our parts are 3D-printed using industrial ASA-CF (Carbon Fiber) and ABS-GF (Glass Fiber) polymers, they naturally feature a micro-textured matte surface that minimizes layer lines while providing extreme heat resistance.
If you choose to paint or color-match your parts, keep in mind that raw paint applied directly over composite prints will amplify surface layer lines and micro-voids.
Recommended Painting Process:
- Use High-Build Filler Primer: Apply several coats of high-build automotive spray primer. The high-solid formula fills layer lines and micro-voids between print layers.
- Wet Sand Between Coats: Block-sand using 400 to 600-grit sandpaper between primer coats to level out the surface for a smooth finish.
- Avoid Traditional Body Filler / Spot Putty: Do not use standard body filler or Bondo. Composite 3D prints expand and contract under cabin heat cycles at a different rate than body filler, which can cause cracking, swelling, or adhesion failure over time.
- Base & Clear: Once primed and sanded smooth, apply your choice of automotive basecoat and clearcoat.
What are 1988–1994 Chevy OBS custom speaker grilles?
1988–1994 Chevy OBS custom speaker grilles are re-engineered replacement dash speaker covers for early GMT400 trucks, designed with magnetic retention and carbon-fiber composite materials.
How do these speaker grilles improve on the original factory design?
They eliminate weak plastic front tabs that snap off during installation, replacing them with a full-length magnetic strip, while re-engineering the rear tabs to prevent binding and grille breakage.
Why is this speaker grille set made in two separate parts?
The two-piece design consists of a main grille body and a removable dust cover, giving you the choice to run open grilles or separate the pieces to paint them different colors without back-masking.
